My research is focused broadly on cellular signaling mechanisms and outcome. The focus areas are: 1) receptor signaling pathways, such as insulin, that control PI 3-kinase/Akt signaling, that in turn regulate autophagy, metabolism, cell morphogenesis, proliferation and cell death; 2) signaling pathways that activate stress responses in the nucleus. These focuses are tied together by our interest lipid messengers, especially phosphoinositides, both in the cytosol and within the nucleus.
