Position title: Assistant Professor of Kinesiology
My lab focuses on vascular aging and the impact of successful aging strategies such as exercise. Many of our current projects focus on cerebral blood flow regulation, how this changes with aging, and how this may indicate future risk of cognitive decline. Because many adults with diabetes or prediabetes demonstrate vascular dysfunction and have a higher propensity to develop cognitive impairment, much of our work overlaps with diabetes-related research. I also have an American Heart Association grant to investigating the effect of a dietary intervention on autonomic and neurovascular control of blood pressure in middle-aged adults and the goal is to extend this work into adults with prediabetes.
